Q: Where is the Directory seen?

A: Your listing will be available to homeowners through Contractors.com and through our partner websites including: HGTVPro.com and the Marketplace sections on HGTV.com, DIY.com and FineLiving.com. This places your company in front of millions of visitors each month.

Q: What is important about being on other websites?

A: Your company is listed on some of the most popular home improvement websites in America, and, likely, the world. This is important to you because millions of people now can see contractors' names and descriptions, many of them in your work territory. These are website visitors specifically looking for ways to build, renovate, repair and redesign their homes. These visitors believe in and trust these sites and you get a share of that reflected credibility and trust. Contractors.com new partners take contractors into the consumer mainstream and take contractors' directories and lead generation onto a much higher plane in all possible ways. Nobody else has ever been in front of the public like we are and like you are as a member of Contractors.com!

Q: What can I put in my listing in the Directory?

A: Your company listing in the Contractors.com Directory includes your company's contact information, link to your website, types of services you offer, a Reviews Page for customer comments, and your Photo Gallery of actual work.

Q: How much does membership cost?

A: See membership information or call 1-866-241-9051, 8am-10pm EST, Mon-Fri.

Q: How does the service work?

When you sign up, you create a company profile which becomes your listing in the Contractors.com directory. Your listing includes a company description, services offered and territory, phone number, link to your company website, photos, customer reviews, etc. As a Premium or Basic Certified Member, (see pricing) you receive preferred placement in the listings along with other benefits. Premium Certified Members appear ahead of Basic Certified Members. Only Premium and Basic Certified Members can purchase leads from our Lead Store but there is no mandatory number of leads to buy and no additional fees other than annual membership. A lead is sold to a maximum of three contractors.

Q: What's the price of membership?

A: What's the price to be in front of millions of homeowners on the most popular sites on the Internet. What's the price of the credibility you'll get with your name, contacts, photo gallery, website URL, email and a great profile piece on our website and those of our partners? Q: How can a homeowner find me on Contractors.com?

A: There are two main ways a homeowner can locate your profile in the Contractors.com directory:

1. Searching by Job Type and Postal Code
2. Company Name Search

Q: How do I get leads through Contractors.com?

A: Contractors.com generates leads in two ways:

Directory Searches - A homeowner searches the Contractors.com directory to find suitable contractors and contacts selected contractors directly. These ‘leads’ are free to both the consumer and the contractor.

Submitted Projects - Homeowners submit their projects to Contractors.com, and we send email alerts to members. Members can purchase leads in their job categories at the prices shown in the alerts – to a maximum of 3 contractors per lead.

Q: How do you check incoming leads?

Each consumer lead is verified by telephone by real live people. If we can't talk to the homeowner who placed the lead, we trash the lead. Our staff makes sure the lead is in your job type (kitchen remodel, addition, landscaping, etc.) and in your work territory (not the next state). They do their best (which is pretty good) to dissuade tire kickers, window shoppers and the HO who expects a basement reno for $1,200.

Q: Can I get credit for ‘bad leads’?

A: If you do get a lead with the wrong telephone number, or submitted by an unauthorized person, the 12-year-old son or the family dog, or you get a lead for a bathtub resurfacing when you do windows, or you’ve bought the same lead before, you get a credit, not hassles.

Q: To how many contractors do you sell leads?

A: We close the lead sale after three purchases. You’re not in line with 40 other contractors. And you don’t have to deal with angry homeowners besieged by dozens of phone calls and emails from hungry contractors.

Q: Do you care what kinds of contractors get leads?

A: You also don’t have to compete with unlicensed, uninsured, inexperienced, incompetent or unscrupulous low bidders because we won’t sell leads to anyone who doesn’t have all the paperwork and a good record.

Q: Do you require mandatory lead purchases of any kind?

A: No. We don’t require you to buy bundles of leads or set amounts per month or any leads at all; it’s up to you. You get lead alerts; you like them, you can buy them - one by one. You don’t like that one, move on to the next alert. We’ll have lots of leads to choose from.

Q: Do you buy and sell leads with every other service around?

A: Nope, we don’t buy or trade leads with other services and we certainly don’t resell leads to other listing services. With Contractors.com, what you see is what you get and you get plenty right here!

Q: How do I pay and how do you manage payments?

A: You pay by credit card or through your bank account – without fear. Our security is as good as it gets and we will not charge your card or account without your permission for each transaction. We don’t have a contract entitling us to strip your lead account by the second day of each month or to charge for bad or phantom leads and invented fees. You can keep a lead account to make things easy for you but it’s your account, not ours.

Q: How does a homeowner review a contractor on Contractors.com?

A: You can request reviews from your customers by giving them a printed Review Form or by sending them a request by email. Both options are available in My Account, under My Reviews. We also encourage contractors to add reviews from previous customers. The value of your company listing is heavily influenced by the number and quality of your reviews! Contractors.com also has a rating system enabling homeowners to see at a glance a contractor’s record for responding to customer questions and concerns through the project, remaining within a budget, producing quality work and providing overall satisfaction to clients.

Q: What happens if I get a bad rating?

A: To ensure each rating is fair, we have a process that weeds out fraudulent or invalid reviews, mediates disputes, averages ratings and notifies contractors about negative ratings so they can resolve issues with customers.

Q: How do I update the information about my business?

A: If you do not have a Contractors.com account, please call us at 1-866-241-9051, 8am-10pm EST, Mon-Fri and we will set up your account with you. You will then be able to update your information. If you are already a Premium or Basic Certified Member, you can log in with your Contractors.com username and password, then click on the My Account tab. You can make updates under My Company on the left side of the screen.

Q: Can I get a refund if I’m not happy with Contractors.com?

A: If you don’t like your membership in Contractors.com, you don’t have to stay. Up to seven days, you get a full refund. Cancel during your first three months and you only pay for three months. Read your User Agreement: it’s not small print and we don’t argue for hours on the phone.

Q: How are we different?

A: We are run by a contractor who listens to you and understands your problems are our problems. Our main job is to make your life much easier while your business grows – even in tough times.

Q: What if I have other questions not covered here?

A: If you have questions or concerns that are not addressed here, you may contact us using our online form or call toll-free 1-866-241-9051, 8am-10pm EST, Mon-Fri.
